Active on the Canadian New Music scene in the decade spanning 1987 to 1997, Composer Chester Jankowski's music has been performed by many top members of the younger generation of Canadian virtuosi including Array Music, Millennium, pianist Stephen Clarke, violinist Scott St. John and many others. His music has received national broadcasts on CBC's Two New Hours and The Arts Tonight. Jankowski studied with Peter Paul Koprowski, David Myska and Sydney Hodkison at the University of Western Ontario, George Tsontakis at Aspen, Lothar Klein and Gustav Ciamaga at the University of Toronto, where he earned a doctorate in composition in 1998. In 1997, Jankowski was the recipient of the Sir Ernest MacMillan Foundation composition award, one of Canada's most prestigious national awards for composers under 30.
